Brightcore Energy, a leader in renewable energy solutions, has announced that it has secured a contract with the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to upgrade lighting and controls for various government agencies, municipalities, and other clients across New York State. Through this agreement, Brightcore will help these organizations improve their lighting systems with energy-efficient LED technology, using their easy and efficient turn-key model to ensure minimal disruption during the upgrades.
The contract, awarded through a competitive bidding process, allows state agencies like the Port Authority of NY & NJ, the Department of Education, and the NYPD, along with other public entities, to benefit from Brightcore’s services. The upgrades will involve replacing outdated lighting with modern LED fixtures and controls, significantly improving energy efficiency in state and city-owned buildings.
Mike Richter, President of Brightcore Energy, said ““Lighting is the single, most cost-effective energy efficiency update that government offices, schools, and other state and local entities still using fluorescent fixtures can do! The efficiency improvement, reduced carbon, longevity, and better quality of light make it beneficial in every aspect.”
Switching to LED lighting offers notable benefits, including reduced energy consumption and lower maintenance costs. LEDs use 95% of energy for light, produce minimal heat, and last up to 100,000 hours, compared to fluorescent lights that only use 85% of energy for light and last about 10,000 hours. This shift not only saves energy but also reduces long-term operational costs.
