Clean Energy Leads U.S. Growth in 2024, Accounted for 93% of New Capacity Additions

In 2024, clean energy continued its dominant growth in the U.S., accounting for 93% of new energy capacity additions. The American Clean Power Association (ACP) reported that 49 GW of clean energy, including solar, wind, and storage, was installed last year. This push propelled the U.S. past 300 GW of total clean energy capacity. Notably, these advancements are supporting the nation’s broader efforts toward renewable energy integration and grid resilience, with increasing investments in solar and wind technologies continuing to lead the charge in decarbonization efforts.

“The only way to meet skyrocketing energy demand is to embrace all American energy resources. The clean energy sector’s dominant performance in 2024 demonstrates the unique role clean power is playing in bringing electricity online now to support increased manufacturing and data centers. Reliable energy depends on reliable policy,” said ACP CEO Jason Grumet. “Our nation’s economic growth and digital dominance require aggressive pursuit of a true all of the above energy strategy.”
