Carbon dioxide removal company CO280 Solutions has successfully completed a pilot project to validate the performance of liquid amine technology to capture biogenic carbon dioxide from recovery boiler stack emissions at a pulp mill in the US Gulf Coast.
CO280 retrofits existing pulp and paper mills with modular carbon capture units to capture and permanently store biogenic CO2.
The pilot used carbon-capture technology from SLB Capturi. A mobile test unit was installed at the site in the second half of last year and has run for over 4,000 hours, achieving a consistent capture rate efficiency of 95%.
SLB designed the unit to capture three tonnes of CO2 a day.
