Quantum Helium originated from Mosman Oil & Gas, an Australian company incorporated in 2011 that established a portfolio of oil, gas and exploration interests in the US. In late 2025, the company rebranded to Quantum to focus on its flagship Sagebrush and Coyote Wash helium exploration projects in the Four Corners region of southwest Colorado.
The projects have more than 1.1 billion cubic feet (bcf) of independently assessed gross 2U helium resources. Quantum has also confirmed on-site commercial oil production, reflecting its strategy to put helium at the centre of its growth story while retaining an established oil and gas operating platform.
Sagebrush and Coyote Wash projects
Quantum holds a 90% working interest in Sagebrush and has 100% ownership of Coyote Wash, with 134 million standard cubic feet (mmscf) and 970 mmscf of independently assessed 2U gross helium resources at each prospect, respectively.
The two projects sit within the same regional geological system, allowing Quantum to build its technical understanding across a much larger area rather than viewing each prospect in isolation.
According to Quantum, “The geology is particularly attractive because helium generated over geological time from the ancient basement rocks can migrate upwards and become trapped in porous reservoir rocks such as the Leadville Formation. Thick salt, anhydrite, and other impermeable rocks then provide an effective seal.”
The company recently confirmed commercial helium concentrations of approximately 2.5% at the Sagebrush project. The prospect is its principal development focus, with plans to commence the larger Sagebrush stimulation programme during the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to the necessary approvals and service-company availability.
Key operational catalysts
Quantum’s immediate catalyst is the larger-volume stimulation programme at Sagebrush. Critically, the flow and reservoir information that comes from that will feed into development engineering, surface processing and the pathway towards commercial helium production.
At the same time, it will continue permitting and well planning across the wider drilling portfolio, with initial drilling targeted during the second half of 2027 and commercial helium production planned to follow in early 2028.
Coyote Wash also remains an important part of that programme as it contains the majority of its independently assessed helium resource. The company said that if it executes that programme successfully, the next 12 to 18 months should see Quantum move from resource definition and appraisal towards development and ultimately production.
The company said its clearest operational objective between now and year-end is to commence the larger-volume stimulation programme at Sagebrush.
Scaling-up flagship projects
If commercial helium production is achieved, Quantum has several potential routes to scale up production.
In terms of Sagebrush, success at the Sagebrush-1 well would provide the technical template for additional development wells across the wider structure. Coyote Wash then provides another level of scale because it contains multiple mapped Leadville prospects and 970 mmscf of independently assessed 2U gross helium resource.
On the processing side, Quantum is operating in an established energy region. The company has previously assessed a number of commercialisation options, including separating and upgrading the raw gas before transporting helium to existing processing infrastructure. There is also pipeline infrastructure in the area. Ultimately, the development configuration will be driven by production volumes and economics.
Helium exploration pipeline
For Quantum, this year’s global helium shortage reinforced the need to develop new helium supplies.
Looking ahead, the company has expanded beyond Sagebrush-1 and the original Coyote Wash prospects, identifying a growing portfolio of helium and oil opportunities.
Those include Sagebrush East, Mariano Wash South East and additional acreage at Lula, alongside the nearer-term Little Ute South East and Yellow Jacket South East oil opportunities.
Quantum’s expanding exploration portfolio offers long-term growth potential, with its immediate commercial prospects resting on the outcome of Sagebrush’s next stimulation programme.
