Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, recently held a meeting with Aliaksei Zhaldybin to discuss opportunities for cooperation in renewable energy and sustainable development. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and identifying ways Belarusian expertise and technology could contribute to Dubai’s clean energy ambitions.

During the discussions, Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s continued efforts to support the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. These long-term initiatives aim to transform Dubai into a global hub for clean energy and sustainability by ensuring that 100 percent of the emirate’s energy production capacity comes from clean energy sources by 2050. He explained that the strategies are central to Dubai’s vision of reducing carbon emissions while supporting economic development and energy security.

A key topic of the meeting was the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which is considered one of the most important renewable energy projects in the region. The solar park is currently the world’s largest single-site solar project and has a production capacity of 3,860 megawatts. Al Tayer stated that the project plays a major role in increasing the share of clean energy in Dubai’s overall energy mix. At present, clean energy accounts for more than 21.5 percent of DEWA’s total energy capacity. This figure is expected to rise to 36 percent by 2030, exceeding the original target of 25 percent set under the clean energy strategy.

Al Tayer also spoke about DEWA’s achievements in the utility sector, noting that the organization currently ranks first globally in 13 key performance indicators and first regionally in two others. These indicators cover areas such as electricity generation, transmission efficiency, innovation, and customer service. He emphasized that DEWA has spent more than 30 years building a reliable and sustainable infrastructure through innovation and advanced technologies, helping support Dubai’s rapid economic growth and development. Aliaksei Zhaldybin praised DEWA for its achievements and described the organization as a global example of innovation-driven management. He also introduced several Belarusian companies already operating in the UAE and said their technological capabilities and expertise could create valuable opportunities for future collaboration with DEWA. Both sides expressed interest in strengthening cooperation, exchanging knowledge, and exploring joint investment opportunities in renewable energy and sustainability projects.
