In a high-level meeting , President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi directed government officials to expedite the completion of electrical infrastructure for Egypt’s major agricultural reclamation initiative, the “New Delta” project. The directive underscores the administration’s focus on ensuring food security and energy sustainability in response to global market fluctuations.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, and other senior officials, including representatives from the Armed Forces Engineering and Financial Affairs Authorities, as well as the “Egypt’s Future” Authority for Sustainable Development.

Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that the meeting reviewed the current progress of providing electrical power to new agricultural zones, with a specific focus on transformer station development and the required load timelines. These efforts fall under Egypt’s broader strategy to secure stable electricity supplies for agricultural and industrial reclamation projects.

The discussions also included the government’s plans to ensure long-term domestic energy availability and its commitment to supporting national economic development. Emphasis was placed on enhancing the use of renewable energy sources as part of Egypt’s sustainable development agenda and in attracting energy sector investments.

President El-Sisi instructed the relevant authorities to update the national energy security plan regularly, with a special focus on increasing the share of renewable energy and maintaining stable electricity provision across key national projects.

The “New Delta” project is a central component of Egypt’s food security policy, aimed at expanding arable land and boosting agricultural production amid global economic uncertainties.
