Empowering Sustainability: Sineng Electric Powers India’s Largest Floating Solar Plant with Advanced Technology

Sineng Electric, a global leader in solar and energy storage solutions, has played a pivotal role in the successful commissioning of the 90MW Omkareshwar floating solar plant in Madhya Pradesh. The plant has been in commercial operation for over five months. According to Government of India Press Information Bureau, this 90MW project is part of India’s largest floating solar park, which will eventually total 600MW, and is situated on the Omkareshwar Dam’s reservoir. Executed by SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN, and constructed by Larsen & Toubro, this landmark project exemplifies India’s commitment to advancing renewable energy technologies and achieving its sustainability goals.

The floating solar project deploys 28 units of Sineng’s advanced EP-3300-HB-UD central inverters. Specially designed for utility-scale solar applications, these inverters deliver industry-leading efficiency of up to 99%, leverage advanced three-level topology technology, and feature a maximum DC/AC ratio of 1.8. Engineered to withstand the demanding conditions of floating solar installations, the inverters are equipped with IP65 rating and robust anti-corrosion protection, ensuring reliable operation in the humid and dynamic reservoir environment.

This solar farm is projected to generate 196,500 MWh of clean energy annually, with a cumulative energy output of 4,629,300 MWh over its 25-year operational lifespan. Through reducing carbon emissions by 230,000 tons each year, this project aligns with the Indian government’s ambitious goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2070. Moreover, the floating solar park helps conserve water by minimizing evaporation, amplifying its environmental impact.

“Sineng Electric is honored to contribute to this milestone project in Madhya Pradesh,” said John Hu, General Manager of Sineng Electric International Department. “Our advanced inverters are built to address the unique complexities of floating solar installations, including fluctuating water levels, high winds, waves, and corrosive environments. This successful collaboration also showcases Sineng’s unparalleled expertise and commitment to delivering reliable and efficient energy solutions that drive the clean energy revolution.”

The project serves as a benchmark for renewable energy innovation, illustrating the potential of integrating cutting-edge technology with sustainable practices and affirming that technical excellence and environmental stewardship can together drive the transition to a low-carbon future.
