ENGIE, a global leader in low-carbon energy and services, has announced a key leadership appointment to support its growth in Southeast Asia’s rapidly evolving energy sector. Jacques Boonen has been named Managing Director, Local Energy Infrastructures for ENGIE in Southeast Asia, effective 1st August 2025.
Jacques Boonen brings extensive experience in strategy and sustainable transformation. Since joining ENGIE in 2008, he has held senior leadership positions in France, Belgium, and North America, including Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer for ENGIE France Renewables and CEO of ENGIE Impact, the Group’s sustainability advisory division.
Jacques Boonen, stated, “I am honoured to lead ENGIE at such a pivotal point in Southeast Asia’s energy transition. Pierre Cheyron and Thomas Baudlot have laid a strong foundation for our operations, and I look forward to deepening our presence in the region. Southeast Asia is a strategic growth market for ENGIE, and I am excited to scale our Local Energy Infrastructure business through practical solutions like district cooling, onsite renewables, onsite utilities, and energy efficiency.”

He succeeds Pierre Cheyron, who will now serve as Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Local Energy Infrastructures at the Group level. These appointments underscore ENGIE’s ongoing commitment to Southeast Asia, where the company continues to support customers in their energy transition efforts while expanding its low-carbon energy solutions across the region.
