Europe sees chance in space industry with streamlined rules

The European Commission has identified different elements of the space economy as it seeks to capitalise on the potential of an industry that could be worth $1.8 trillion by 2035.

Yesterday Defence and Space Commissioner Andrius Kubilius outlined policy steps under an EU Space Act – and set out a vision for Europe’s space economy.

“We have top industry, scientists and engineers. But still we risk falling behind because our space market is becoming very much fragmented. At the moment 12 member states have their own space laws.”
