Green Energy Sector Shows Pockets Of Strength In Weak Market Session (14 July 2026)

Indian stock markets ended lower on July 14, 2026, as investors remained cautious amid broad-based selling across sectors. The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex declined 0.72% to close at 77,054.94, while the Nifty 50 slipped 0.70% to finish at 24,041.70. The weakness in the broader market also affected the green energy and power sector, although a few renewable energy companies managed to post notable gains despite the negative sentiment.

Adani Green Energy emerged as the best-performing stock in the sector. The company’s shares gained 3.88% on the BSE to close at Rs 1,604.40, while on the NSE the stock advanced 3.72% to end at Rs 1,604.00. The strong performance stood out against the overall market decline and reflected continued investor interest in the renewable energy major.

Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy also delivered a positive trading session. Its shares rose 2.13% on the BSE to close at Rs 242.00 and gained 2.27% on the NSE to finish at Rs 242.35. JSW Energy also remained in positive territory, recording a gain of 0.78% on the BSE to close at Rs 557.65 and 0.62% on the NSE at Rs 557.10.

However, several other green energy and infrastructure companies ended the day with losses. Insolation Energy was the biggest loser among the selected stocks, falling 2.65% on the BSE to Rs 117.50 and 2.63% on the NSE to Rs 117.35. Inox Wind also witnessed heavy selling, with its shares declining 2.48% on the BSE to Rs 79.08 and 2.50% on the NSE to Rs 79.06.

Large-cap companies also came under pressure during the session. Larsen & Toubro fell 2.08% to close at Rs 3,846.00 on the BSE, while Indian Oil Corporation declined 2.11% to Rs 137.05. Olectra Greentech lost 1.88%, ending at Rs 1,376.20, and Amara Raja Energy & Mobility slipped 1.62% to close at Rs 894.30.

Some major power companies showed resilience despite the weak market. Tata Power recorded only a marginal decline of 0.12% to close at Rs 377.45, while NTPC Green Energy Ltd. also remained relatively stable, ending 0.42% lower on the BSE at Rs 94.17 and 0.33% lower on the NSE at Rs 94.24.

Overall, the trading session reflected cautious investor sentiment, with the broader market remaining under pressure. Even so, strong gains in select renewable energy stocks such as Adani Green Energy, Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy, and JSW Energy highlighted continued confidence in parts of the clean energy sector despite the day’s overall weakness.
