The green energy and mobility sector witnessed a mixed trading session, reflecting the cautious sentiment seen across the broader Indian stock market. While the benchmark indices ended the day with marginal gains, clean energy, battery, and renewable energy stocks showed a divided performance, with some companies posting modest gains while others faced selling pressure.
The broader market remained slightly positive, with the S&P BSE Sensex rising 0.14% to close at 77,100.47. Similarly, the NIFTY 50 advanced 0.15%, ending the session at 24,058.30. Despite the positive movement in the benchmark indices, green energy stocks lacked a clear direction.
Among the gainers, Borosil Renewables emerged as the top performer of the day. The company’s stock rose 1.93% on the BSE to close at Rs 616.90. NTPC Green Energy Ltd. also registered a healthy gain of 1.16%, ending the session at Rs 95.80. Electric mobility company Olectra Greentech delivered a positive performance, climbing 0.88% to settle at Rs 1,505.00.
Engineering major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) contributed to the positive momentum in the sector, with its shares gaining 0.55% to close at Rs 4,205.00. Other stocks that ended in positive territory included Reliance Industries, which edged up 0.18% to Rs 1,316.00, and Praj Industries, which gained 0.19% to close at Rs 348.70. Adani Green Energy remained largely unchanged, posting a marginal gain of 0.02% to finish at Rs 1,525.70.
On the losing side, battery manufacturers faced notable pressure. Exide Industries emerged as the biggest loser among the tracked stocks, declining 2.52% to close at Rs 389.50. Amara Raja Energy & Mobility also witnessed a significant fall, shedding 2.15% to end at Rs 831.10.
Several renewable energy and utility companies also closed lower. Insolation Energy dropped 1.65% to Rs 113.30, while Indian Oil Corporation fell 1.50% to Rs 144.05. Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy declined 1.32% to Rs 246.00, and GAIL slipped 1.26% to close at Rs 172.75. Tata Power also ended the day in negative territory, falling 1.11% to Rs 388.50.
Meanwhile, Inox Wind, Websol Energy, JSW Energy, and the Indian Energy Exchange recorded relatively minor declines. Overall, the trading session indicated a consolidation phase for green energy and mobility stocks, as investors remained selective amid the absence of any strong sector-specific trigger, even as the broader market managed to close in positive territory.
