Sustainable construction materials firm Green Vector subsidiary Laputa Eco-Construction Material (Laputa) is expanding into Europe with its carbon capture and utilisation (CCU) solution designed to integrate with existing concrete production lines.
The Hong Kong-based company is targeting the European market as demand for lower-carbon solutions in the concrete manufacturing industry increases in line with the European Commission’s goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
Laputa says its solution can help traditional building materials manufacturers decarbonise concrete production without the need for major infrastructure changes.
The company’s integrated CCU solution covers system design, equipment assembly, and on-site deployment to support its commercialisation efforts in Hong Kong and Europe.
It has collaborated with affiliated company CS Tech, the CCU technology provider and licensor, to build production scalability to support the planned international growth.
Dixon Chan, founder of Laputa, said the company wants to not only develop low-carbon technology but also ensure it can be adopted and scaled.
Cement manufacturing is essential to concrete production, which is the most widely used construction material globally.
According to the European Commission, the cement sector is responsible for around 7% of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions globally, and approximately 4% in the EU.
