Spanish investment partners Bankinter Investment and Plenium Partners have secured a €76m ($88.5m) package from ING and UniCredit to refinance a portfolio of biomethane plants in Italy.
Both banks are acting as global coordinators, mandated lead arrangers and bookrunners, while ING is also serving as the facility agent.
The financing consolidates the financial structure of a portfolio of four plants in central and northern Italy. Once fully operational, the quartet are expected to produce around 160 GWh of renewable biomethane annually.
With a combined capacity of around 1,800 scm/h, the plants convert agricultural and livestock by-products into 100% biomethane that can be injected into the Italian gas grid.
