Hontek, Socomore collaborate on erosion protection solutions for wind market

Hontek Corporation, which specializes in erosion-resistant protective coatings for wind energy, aerospace, and industrial applications, will join forces with Socomore to leverage their respective strengths and expertise to support the growth of the wind industry around the world.

As part of this collaboration, in January 2025, Socomore will be the production and sales partner for Hontek LEP products in the wind and aerospace markets, including Leading Edge Protection SOCOBLADE LEP 220 & LEP 220H (formerly HONTEK LEP 220 & 220H), manufactured in Rhome, Texas. Backed by over 30 years of research, Hontek’s leading-edge protection coatings for wind turbine blades have been designed to provide high-performance protection against erosion in a broad range of environments. Easy to use and compatible with a wide humidity range, Hontek coatings can be applied on new blades as a preventive protection or on damaged blades as a repair solution. HONTEK LEP 220 & LEP 220H have been field-proven in onshore, offshore, and nearshore wind farms.

As a worldwide chemical product designer and manufacturer for 50 years, Socomore provides a complementing critical surface protection range of solutions for the wind energy market: interior and exterior cleaners (including a 100% biodegradable cleaning range), anti-corrosion and anti-erosion solutions. Socomore is now able to provide maintenance operators and wind turbine manufacturers with a product offer to protect wind turbines.

“We are grateful to Hontek for bringing us their 30+ years of expertise in erosion protection technologies. We are confident that our strategic partnership will expand our technology offering to wind, aerospace and industrial markets,” said Andrew Leech with Socomore.

“Hontek has developed a large portfolio of superior erosion protection products. We are very excited to join forces with Socomore to optimize the combined benefits of technology, manufacturing, and marketing capabilities worldwide,” said Shek Hong with Hontek.
