Iberdrola has harvested its first batch of solar honey in Portugal, produced at the Conde (Palmela) and Algeruz II (Setúbal) photovoltaic plants. Launched in 2023, the project has yielded 300 kilograms of 100% natural honey in its inaugural year.

This initiative is part of the Convive Plan, which aims to foster harmony between renewable energy facilities and the surrounding natural environment. It highlights Iberdrola’s commitment to demonstrating that renewable energy projects can coexist successfully and productively with nature.

The 30 hives spread across the two solar plant apiaries have produced an impressive 300 kilograms of honey, with plans to expand further. Iberdrola intends to extend the initiative to additional sites and enhance flower cultivation around the hives to boost honey production. By situating the hives within the solar farms, the project also ensures beekeepers can operate in safer and more efficient conditions.
