Clean energy took center stage at the opening of COP30 in Belem, Brazil, as COP30 President Andre Corrêa do Lago praised India and China for their pivotal roles in advancing the global clean energy transition. He highlighted how both nations are driving down the cost of renewable technologies and setting new benchmarks in climate action.

Do Lago lauded China’s exceptional leadership in clean energy manufacturing, noting its dominance in solar panels, wind turbines, electric vehicles, and battery systems. He said China’s large-scale production capabilities have made clean technologies more affordable worldwide, accelerating the global shift toward sustainable power systems.

Equally, he recognized India’s growing influence in renewable energy deployment and its strong commitment to climate cooperation. India’s initiatives in solar, wind, and green hydrogen, he noted, are not only strengthening its domestic energy security but also contributing to global decarbonization efforts.

The COP30 President stressed that, amid economic challenges and geopolitical uncertainty, a fair and ambitious global response remains essential. He urged developed nations to honor their climate finance pledges, emphasizing that collaboration between emerging economies like India and China is vital for achieving global net-zero goals.

“India and China have embraced the clean energy agenda with remarkable clarity and determination,” Do Lago said. “Their leadership is transforming markets, lowering costs, and shaping a more sustainable energy future for all.”
