Indian Stock Market Gains 0.66% As Renewable Energy Stocks Show Mixed Performance (26 October 2026)

The Indian stock market closed higher on October 26, 2026, with benchmark indices registering gains amid positive investor sentiment and selective buying across sectors. The S&P BSE Sensex advanced 0.66% to settle at 73,606.75, while the NSE Nifty 50 rose 0.52% to close at 22,717.05. Renewable energy and power stocks witnessed mixed movements, with Adani Green Energy and Websol Energy emerging among the session’s strongest performers, while Tata Power and Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy recorded losses.

Adani Green Energy led the major renewable energy gainers, climbing 5.15% on the BSE to ₹1,246.00. On the NSE, the stock traded at ₹1,245.10. Websol Energy followed closely, gaining 4.99% to close at ₹63.52 on the BSE and ₹63.49 on the NSE. Kabra Extrusion also recorded a strong performance, rising 4.76% to ₹710.00, while Indian Energy Exchange advanced 2.91% to ₹104.45.

Other energy-related stocks also ended in positive territory. GAIL gained 2.11%, while Exide Industries rose 1.46%. However, several renewable energy stocks faced selling pressure. Tata Power declined 2.08% on the BSE to ₹338.80, while its NSE price fell 3.17%. Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy dropped 1.83% to ₹139.80 on the BSE. Praj Industries also closed lower, shedding 1.15%, while Juniper Green Energy declined 0.79%. Inox Wind slipped 0.68%, and Borosil Renewables recorded a marginal decline of 0.33%.

The October 26 trading session highlighted divergent movements across India’s renewable energy and power sectors. While strong gains in Adani Green Energy, Websol Energy and Kabra Extrusion supported the sector’s positive momentum, losses in Tata Power and Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy reflected continued stock-specific pressure. The overall market advance provided a supportive backdrop, although performance remained uneven across individual companies.
