Even if tensions between the US and Iran ease and a diplomatic deal is reached, shipping operators are likely to face continued disruption, regulatory scrutiny and elevated risks in the Strait of Hormuz, according to an analyst from geopolitical intelligence firm Sibylline.
Speaking at the gasworld Specialty Gas Summit, Megan Sutcliffe, Principal Analyst for Middle East and Africa at Sibylline, said the most likely outcome remains a diplomatic breakthrough between the US and Iran over the next three to six months.
However, she warned that any agreement is unlikely to fully restore conditions that existed before the latest crisis.
