IREDA Sanctions Over ₹3,000 Crore For Odisha’s Renewable Energy Projects, Commits Support For 10 GW Target

At the Odisha Solar Investor Conclave held in Bhubaneswar, Shri Pradip Kumar Das, the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA), addressed the gathering and highlighted IREDA’s significant role in supporting renewable energy (RE) projects. He emphasized that accessible and seamless financing is key to accelerating the growth of green energy projects. IREDA, with its paperless, fully digitized, and borrower-friendly operations, is uniquely positioned to offer competitive financing options to support renewable energy initiatives across India.

Shri Das reaffirmed IREDA’s commitment to supporting Odisha’s renewable energy ambitions, particularly the state’s target of achieving 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. He announced that IREDA had already sanctioned more than Rs. 3,000 crore for various green energy projects in Odisha, covering sectors such as solar, hydro, ethanol, and renewable energy manufacturing.

The CMD also spoke about Odisha’s potential to become a leading solar power producer and a hub for solar equipment manufacturing. He shared IREDA’s national contributions, noting that the agency has sanctioned over ₹2.08 lakh crore and disbursed ₹1.36 lakh crore for renewable energy projects. This includes financing for emerging technologies such as ethanol, electric vehicle (EV) fleet financing, pumped storage hydropower, and green ammonia. Shri Das emphasized that IREDA is playing a critical role in driving India’s green energy goals and expects to contribute 10-15% of the renewable energy debt financing space in the future.
