A mission scheduled to send a group of astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) has been delayed due to a liquid oxygen (LOX) leak. It is the second postponement in a matter of days for the Axiom-4 mission, with the original 10 June launch date called off due to unfavourable weather conditions at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in the US state of Florida.
The mission is a collaboration between US-based space infrastructure company Axiom Space, NASA, and SpaceX.
“We are standing down from the June 11 launch date to the ISS to allow additional time for SpaceX teams to repair the LOX leak identified during post-static fire booster inspections,” said Axiom Space in a statement.
