LONGi Partners with POWERCHINA for North Oman Solar Project to Advance Clean Energy Goals

Chinese solar technology firm LONGi has partnered with Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA) to supply high-efficiency solar modules for the North Oman Solar Project, a 100 MW renewable energy initiative led by OQ Alternative Energy (OQAE). The project is a cornerstone in Oman’s drive to expand its renewable energy footprint and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

Located in northern Oman, the solar facility is being developed by OQAE, a subsidiary of Oman’s state-owned energy group OQ, in joint venture with TotalEnergies. Once operational, the project will supply clean electricity to Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). The construction is being handled by POWERCHINA.

The project aligns with Oman’s Vision 2040, which prioritizes a low-carbon economy and targets 30% renewable energy in the national power mix by 2030, alongside a net-zero emissions goal by 2050. The North Oman Solar Project is expected to cut over 150,000 tons of carbon emissions annually, playing a pivotal role in the nation’s decarbonization efforts.

To support such developments, the Omani government has implemented a suite of enabling measures, including tax incentives, land and infrastructure support, the creation of green investment funds, and streamlined land-use planning for renewable projects.

LONGi will provide high-performance modules optimized for Oman’s challenging climate, characterized by high temperatures and dust levels. The company will also offer ongoing technical and operational support to ensure consistent and reliable energy output.

“By delivering robust and efficient solar solutions tailored for regional needs, LONGi reinforces its role in supporting sustainable energy transformation,” said a company representative.

The North Oman Solar Project highlights LONGi’s continued contribution to international renewable energy deployment. The firm has built a strong reputation for innovation in solar and hydrogen technologies and remains committed to enabling global carbon reduction through practical, scalable solutions.

This initiative underscores the expanding collaboration between global energy leaders in realizing a cleaner, more resilient energy future in the Middle East.
