LONGi Reports Strong 2024 Financials, Advances BC Technology with 97% Yield and Global Expansion of HPBC 2.0

LONGi has released its 2024 annual report, posting a robust annual revenue of CNY 82.582 billion. For Q1 2025, revenue stood at CNY 13.652 billion, highlighting the company’s continued momentum in the global photovoltaic (PV) market. A key highlight of the report is the significant technological upgrade of LONGi’s HPBC 1.0 production lines to the advanced N-type HPBC 2.0, achieving a high cell yield rate of approximately 97%.

BC Ecosystem Takes Shape with 97% Cell Yield

As part of its strategy to lead the next wave of solar technology, LONGi invested CNY 5.014 billion in R&D in 2024—amounting to 6% of its annual revenue. The company currently holds 3,342 authorized patents, including over 400 related to BC cells and modules. These advancements reinforce LONGi’s position at the forefront of technological innovation, especially in passivated contact and back contact (BC) technologies.

LONGi’s HPBC 2.0 modules are now being shipped in high volumes across China, Europe, the Middle East-Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America. With a yield rate of 97% and leading efficiency, these modules are playing a critical role in accelerating global adoption of N-type high-efficiency solar solutions.

In 2024, LONGi’s BC product shipments surpassed 17GW. To meet surging demand, the company is scaling up production and upgrading its HPBC 2.0 capacity, aiming to reach 50GW of cell and module production each by the end of 2025.

As BC technology gains industry-wide traction, other major players—including GCL Group, Astronergy, Trina Solar, DAS Solar, and Huayao PV—have launched BC modules, with Tongwei, JA Technology, and Gokin Solar joining the trend in 2025.

“LONGi and Aiko have proactively fortified their technological leadership through patents, exclusive supplier partnerships, and talent strategies,” said Li Zhenguo, founder and president of LONGi. “BC diffusion processes are now mature, avoiding the pitfalls seen in TOPCon’s rollout.”

BC Module Efficiency to Surpass 26% as Tech Momentum Builds

In 2025, LONGi plans to deliver 120GW of silicon wafers and 80–90GW of PV modules, with BC modules making up more than 25% of total shipments. The company continues to lead globally in monocrystalline silicon wafer deliveries, and for the past six years, its module shipments have consistently ranked among the top two worldwide.

For Q1 2025, LONGi shipped 23.46GW of wafers (11.26GW sold externally) and 16.93GW of modules, including 4.32GW of BC products. In response to ongoing market challenges, the company is enhancing inventory control and cutting losses from inventory impairment to reduce financial deficits.

Currently, LONGi’s HPBC 2.0 modules boast mass production efficiencies of up to 24.8%, the highest among commercially available PV products. The company aims to bridge the remaining 2% gap between current BC module performance and its theoretical limit, forecasting BC cell efficiencies of up to 28.5% and module efficiencies exceeding 26% in the next three to five years.

“BC technology is now about 80% mature, with major bottlenecks resolved, enabling full-scale industry adoption,” Li added. “2025 marks the ramp-up phase, but BC’s true impact will emerge in 2026 and beyond, growing stronger each year.
