LONGi’s Hi-MO 9 Modules Outperform in China’s First Deep-Sea Floating PV Project

The China National Photovoltaic Product Quality Inspection Center (CPVT) has released the H1 2025 empirical report from the Yantai offshore outdoor empirical project, marking an important milestone in evaluating China’s first deep-sea floating PV installation. The data, collected from January 4 to June 30, 2025, provides a detailed assessment of multiple photovoltaic (PV) technologies under real offshore conditions and delivers valuable insights for advancing large-scale marine PV development.

The report highlights the exceptional performance of LONGi’s Hi-MO 9 modules across all key power generation indicators. Between January and June 2025, Hi-MO 9 achieved a 1.94% higher per-watt power generation compared to TOPCon modules, directly translating into improved generation revenue in real-world operations.

Thermal performance was also a defining strength. The average operating temperature of Hi-MO 9 modules was 1.31°C lower than that of TOPCon modules, a difference that contributes to reduced degradation and extended module lifespan.

Under the specific environmental conditions of the Yantai site in Shandong Province, which recorded a backside reflectivity of 6.73%, Hi-MO 9 modules achieved a combined front-and-backside output of 667.05W, outperforming TOPCon’s 648.11W. This demonstrates the superior power output and adaptability of Hi-MO 9 modules in offshore environments.

Overall, the findings confirm that LONGi’s HPBC 2.0 technology offers distinct advantages for offshore PV applications, excelling in temperature control, low-light generation, and operational reliability. Its high efficiency and durability make it particularly suited to the demanding conditions of offshore solar installations, where consistent performance and low maintenance are critical.
