The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) today held a review meeting on the draft framework of the National Renewable Energy Mission (NREM), aimed at defining, measuring, and achieving India’s renewable energy milestones on the path to Viksit Bharat by 2047. The meeting was chaired by MNRE Director Suman Chandra.
According to officials, the proposed mission will focus on setting short-, medium-, and long-term renewable energy targets, integrating circular economy principles across the value chain, leveraging AI-driven supply chains for improved efficiency and resilience, strengthening domestic manufacturing capacity, and expanding renewable energy demand through policy and market innovations.
The MNRE said the framework will outline measurable goals to accelerate India’s clean energy transition, create green jobs, and support sustainable economic growth for future generations. The mission is currently a work in progress, with further stakeholder consultations expected before finalisation.
