Sembcorp Industries, through its wholly owned subsidiary Sembcorp Green Infra Private Limited (SGIPL), has secured its first 50-megawatt Round-the-Clock (RTC) renewable power project from the Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI). The contract is part of SECI’s 1.2-gigawatt tender aimed at delivering consistent power supply from renewable energy sources connected to the Inter-State Transmission System.

To meet the 50MW contracted capacity, Sembcorp will deploy approximately 300MW of installed renewable energy capacity, combining solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The project follows a build-own-operate model and will be supported by a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with SECI.

Once completed, the project is expected to supply RTC renewable energy to SECI, supported by BESS technology for reliable, around-the-clock delivery. It is scheduled to begin commercial operations within 24 months from the signing of the PPA and will be financed through a combination of internal funds and external debt.

This project marks a significant milestone in Sembcorp’s expansion in India, increasing its gross renewables capacity in the country to over 6.5GW. Globally, Sembcorp’s total renewables portfolio now stands at 18.0GW, including acquisitions pending completion.
