New EIGA paper on medical gases released

A new mini white paper on the topic of medical gases has been released by the European Industrial Gases Association (EIGA).

Titled ‘Guaranteeing High Quality Medicinal Gases in Europe’ it covers EIGA’s view on the on-site preparation in healthcare facilities.

Gaseous substances for inhalation by patients, such as oxygen and air, are usually supplied to healthcare facilities as licensed drugs in defined packages. The onsite production of medicinal gases by dedicated devices at hospital premises is also possible.

The EIGA paper explains that without harmonised guidelines for the onsite production of medicinal gases, there are several risks for European healthcare systems.
