New helium projects could boost supply through 2030 | Helium | gasworld

The global helium market could swing from shortage to oversupply in coming years as more projects are set to come online, according to Anish Kapadia of AKAP Energy.

Kapadia told delegates at the gasworld Specialty Gas Summit that decades of rising helium prices have encouraged a wave of new dedicated projects, creating the potential for supply growth through to 2030.

“There are a lot of projects [and] there is a lot of potential growth in helium production over the coming years,” he said.

While AKAP Energy tracks around 50 helium projects globally, Kapadia said supply remains concentrated among a small number of producing regions.
