European industrial gas firm Nippon Sanso has opened an automated dry ice production and recovery facility in Köping, Sweden.
The new site, capable of producing 2.2 tonnes of dry ice per hour, features six CO2 recovery units designed to capture and reliquefy gas generated during production, allowing it to be reused in the manufacturing process.
Dry ice produced at the site will expand local supply capacity for pharmaceutical, food, airline, and industrial customers across the Nordic region.
Nippon Sanso selected Cold Jet technology to support dry ice production at the facility.
Technology installed includes automated production, handling, and packaging systems, including robotic equipment used for stacking, wrapping, and container filling.
The Köping plant will produce a range of dry ice pellets and slice formats used in temperature-controlled logistics and industrial applications.
Dry ice is widely used across the pharmaceutical and food sectors for transporting temperature-sensitive products, as well as in industrial cleaning and manufacturing processes.
