The National Institute of Technology Calicut has invited online e-tenders for the installation of a 32 kWp on-grid solar power plant at MBH II, located on its Kerala campus. The official notice was published on July 25, 2025, at 5:00 PM, which is also the starting date and time for downloading documents and submitting bids. The last date for document download and bid submission is August 15, 2025, by 6:00 PM. Bids will be opened on August 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM.

The project’s estimated cost is ₹20,00,000, inclusive of GST. The Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) required is ₹40,000, and it can be submitted via UPI, Demand Draft, Fixed Deposit Receipt, or Bank Guarantee in favor of the Director, NIT Calicut. A Performance Guarantee (PG) of 5% of the contract value must be submitted within seven days from the award of the contract, and the EMD will be refunded after submission of the PG. The completion time for the project is 150 days from the date of work order issuance, and the defect liability period is one year.

The work includes detailed engineering design, procurement of solar modules and micro-inverters, structural works, installation, testing, and commissioning. It also includes statutory approvals from KSEB and the Kerala Electrical Inspectorate. A minimum five-year comprehensive warranty and one year of operation and maintenance support are also required from the contractor.

Contractors must have at least five years of experience in solar PV installations and submit proof along with company registration, PAN, Aadhaar, GST registration, experience certificates, and a list of ongoing projects at NIT Calicut. Notably, those already handling three or more projects at NIT Calicut with individual contract values above ₹10 lakhs are not eligible to apply.

Tenders without proper EMD or non-compliant formats will be rejected. The Institute also reserves the right to accept or reject any tender, fully or partially, without assigning reasons. Once the tender is accepted, the contract agreement must be signed on ₹200 non-judicial stamp paper within 14 days, and work must begin within 10 days of the work order.

Strict conditions regarding site inspection, quality standards, insurance, statutory compliance, and safety have also been outlined in the tender. No advance payment will be made, and all payments will be as per the final bill supported by required documentation.
