NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a fully owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), has successfully won a 300 MW solar project in an e-reverse auction conducted by NHPC Limited. The auction was part of a larger tender for selecting developers to set up 1,200 MW (1.2 GW) ISTS-connected solar power projects across India. The project is set to include a 600 MW/1,200 MWh Energy Storage System (ESS), aimed at enhancing the reliability and efficiency of solar power generation.

NTPC REL secured 300 MW of capacity at a competitive tariff of ₹3.09/kWh. The project will also involve establishing an ESS with a 150 MW/300 MWh capacity, ensuring that the solar power generation remains consistent and reliable. The auction concluded on January 23, 2025, and NTPC REL is now awaiting the issuance of the Letter of Award (LOA) from NHPC Limited, which will formalize the contract.

This project is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to expand renewable energy infrastructure and increase the integration of energy storage systems to stabilize the grid and ensure a steady supply of clean energy.
