Oman is looking to strengthen its economic and energy cooperation with Singapore, with a particular focus on clean energy, green hydrogen development and strategic investments. The initiative aims to deepen bilateral relations, attract foreign investment and promote the exchange of technology and expertise between the two countries. The discussions reflect Oman’s efforts to expand its international partnerships while accelerating its transition towards a more diversified and sustainable energy sector.
During a high-level summit in Singapore, Omani officials highlighted the importance of open markets and uninterrupted energy trade in maintaining global energy security and strengthening the resilience of energy systems. They emphasised that reliable international partnerships are essential for ensuring market stability, improving supply chain security and supporting the transfer of advanced technologies across countries.
Oman also presented its potential as an attractive destination for international energy investments. The country highlighted its established experience in the oil and gas sector, along with its significant wind and solar energy resources. Its strategic geographical position and ports, which provide access to major international markets, were also identified as important advantages for investors and energy developers.
Officials pointed to Oman’s stable regulatory environment and investment framework as key factors supporting long-term business partnerships. The country is working to expand its renewable energy capacity and strengthen energy storage infrastructure to improve electricity supply reliability and support its long-term sustainability objectives. These developments are expected to create opportunities for international companies involved in renewable energy, green hydrogen, battery storage and related technologies.
As part of the engagement, the Omani delegation visited several research and technical institutions in Singapore to understand developments in clean energy technologies. One of the key visits was to the Hydrogen and Carbon Innovation Centre at the National University of Singapore. The delegation reviewed ongoing research activities and explored potential areas for technological cooperation in hydrogen and carbon-related solutions.
The delegation also visited a battery energy storage facility on Jurong Island to examine Singapore’s approach to energy storage infrastructure and electricity system management. In addition, officials toured a floating solar power plant operated by Sembcorp, gaining insights into the development of large-scale floating solar projects and their integration into existing electricity networks.
These visits provided opportunities for knowledge exchange and a better understanding of Singapore’s experience in deploying advanced clean energy infrastructure. The engagement could support future collaboration between companies, research institutions and government agencies in both countries.
Oman’s outreach to Singapore highlights its ambition to become a competitive destination for clean energy investment. By combining its renewable energy resources with international expertise and technology partnerships, Oman aims to accelerate green hydrogen development, strengthen energy security and advance its broader economic diversification strategy.
