POWERCHINA’s PV3 Solar Project Showcased in UAE During Boao Forum 2025, Highlighting Global Expansion and Green Energy Impact

During the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2025, China Media Group’s Middle East Branch conducted a live broadcast spotlighting POWERCHINA’s Abu Dhabi PV3 Al Ajban 1.5 GW Solar Project (PV3 Project) in the United Arab Emirates. The coverage used the PV3 Project as a focal point to examine POWERCHINA’s international expansion, the challenges and opportunities it faces, and its strategies for localized management. The segment also showcased the role of Chinese enterprises in driving the green energy transition in the Middle East, with particular emphasis on POWERCHINA’s contributions to regional renewable energy development.

In an interview, CCTV journalist Zhang Zhuoya posed a question about the motivation behind POWERCHINA’s global ventures and its decision to enter the UAE market. The project manager explained that the company’s guiding motto, “POWERCHINA, POWER THE WORLD,” reflects its mission as a leader in green energy infrastructure. By exporting Chinese products, technology, and standards, POWERCHINA aims to promote renewable energy adoption worldwide and contribute to a more balanced global energy capacity.

The broadcast drew strong engagement from viewers, with many praising the company and echoing its slogan. Comments from international audiences included sentiments such as “I really like this company” and “POWERCHINA is in my country too,” reflecting its growing global footprint.

The program also featured Rani, the civil construction supervisor on the PV3 Project, who shared insights from his three-year tenure with POWERCHINA. He praised the company’s corporate culture and expressed enthusiasm for his work, describing the experience as both personally and professionally enriching.

The PV3 Project represents POWERCHINA’s largest solar EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contract abroad. Spanning roughly 20 square kilometers—about the size of 2,801 soccer fields—the project boasts an installed capacity of 1,500 MW. Construction began on September 1, 2024, with grid connection expected by April 30, 2026.

Currently, the project employs over 50 Chinese management personnel and more than 100 foreign workers, with peak employment projected to exceed 4,000, significantly enhancing local job creation. Over the course of its development, the project is expected to generate over 10,000 jobs, contribute to regional GDP, and increase tax revenue.

Once operational, PV3 Project will provide clean electricity to approximately 160,000 households each year and reduce carbon emissions by 2.4 million metric tons, supporting the UAE’s energy transition goals and advancing sustainable development in the region.
