PT Cipta Kridatama and SUN Energy Launch Indonesia’s First and Largest Containerized Battery Energy Storage System for Solar Power

PT Cipta Kridatama (CK), a subsidiary of PT ABM Investama Tbk (ABMM), in partnership with SUN Energy, has inaugurated Indonesia’s first and largest Containerized Battery Energy Storage System (CBESS) for solar power. The facility, located in Jambi, features a 643.8 kWp solar energy system equipped with a 1 MWh battery storage unit housed in a 20-foot container.

As a leading integrated mining services company, PT Cipta Kridatama has taken a significant step in enhancing operational efficiency while integrating sustainable energy solutions. Operating in remote locations beyond the national electricity grid, CK requires a stable and eco-friendly energy source to support its mining activities. The implementation of the CBESS solar power system aligns with the company’s strategy to reduce carbon emissions and supports ABM Group’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments.

The CBESS solar energy system at PT Cipta Kridatama Jambi operates independently of the national grid, providing a reliable and self-sustaining power supply. Solar energy generated during the day is stored in batteries and utilized as needed. The project was completed in just four months and will supply electricity to various operational facilities, including employee housing, a sports hall, a mosque, and a 24-hour clinic.

Designed for flexibility, the CBESS system’s containerized structure allows it to be relocated to different sites, offering scalability and adaptability for industrial applications. The technology can be expanded or combined with other units to optimize energy storage and distribution.

Meidi Wibowo, President Director of PT Cipta Kridatama, expressed pride in being the first company in Indonesia to implement CBESS technology. “This solar energy system is part of our commitment to integrating sustainable practices within the industrial sector. By adopting renewable energy, we contribute to greener mining operations, generating an estimated 849,000 kWh of clean energy annually and reducing carbon emissions by 660 tons of CO₂—equivalent to planting over 10,900 trees,” he stated.

Oky Gunawan, Chief Sales Officer of SUN Energy, highlighted the importance of the collaboration. “We appreciate PT Cipta Kridatama’s trust in SUN Energy to deliver this clean energy solution, developed in collaboration with Huawei. This project introduces an innovative approach to energy efficiency while ensuring a reliable electricity supply for industries in remote areas. CBESS technology has the potential to revolutionize renewable energy development in Indonesia,” he noted.

With a strong track record in solar energy system development, SUN Energy continues to provide cutting-edge solutions for industrial energy needs. The collaboration with PT Cipta Kridatama demonstrates how green energy adoption can drive both operational efficiency and long-term business sustainability in Indonesia’s mining sector.
