Reliance Launches First Batch of BIS-Certified HJT Solar Modules from Jamnagar Facility

Reliance Industries Ltd. has commissioned and delivered the first 200 MWp batch of high-efficiency solar modules from its Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex in Jamnagar, Gujarat, marking the operational launch of the company’s New Energy business for FY 2025–26.

The development represents a significant milestone in Reliance’s clean energy transition strategy and India’s broader push toward domestic renewable energy manufacturing. Spread across nearly 5,000 acres, the Jamnagar complex is being developed as an integrated green energy ecosystem focused on solar photovoltaic modules, battery storage systems, green hydrogen, bio-energy, and related infrastructure.

According to the company’s latest annual report, the first batch includes 720-watt-peak (Wp) BIS-certified solar modules based on advanced heterojunction technology (HJT). Reliance stated that the modules are capable of delivering nearly 10 percent higher energy yield and around 25 percent lower degradation compared to conventional industry-standard panels, enhancing long-term performance and reliability.

The commissioning of the initial production line is expected to strengthen India’s domestic solar manufacturing capabilities at a time when the country is aiming to reduce dependence on imported solar equipment and build a self-reliant clean energy supply chain.

Reliance has outlined ambitious expansion plans for the Jamnagar facility, including large-scale manufacturing of solar cells and modules, battery energy storage systems, electrolysers, and green hydrogen solutions. The company aims to establish one of the world’s largest integrated renewable energy manufacturing hubs through the project.
