Greenvolt Next UK, part of the Greenvolt Group, has expanded its Europe-wide partnership with Marq Logistics by completing a new rooftop solar installation at Magna Park Lutterworth in Leicestershire, one of the logistics operator’s largest sites in the UK.
The project was officially inaugurated on May 28, 2026, in the presence of company representatives and Alberto Costa, Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire.
The installation was delivered at a major distribution centre recently leased by Bleckmann, a logistics provider focused on the fashion and lifestyle sector. The facility supports Bleckmann’s expanding UK operations and has been developed with a strong sustainability focus, achieving BREEAM Excellent certification and an EPC A+ rating.
As part of the project, Greenvolt Next UK installed 1,310 photovoltaic panels across the warehouse rooftop, providing an installed solar capacity of 589 kWp. The system is expected to generate approximately 518 MWh of renewable electricity annually and reduce carbon emissions by around 235 tonnes of CO₂ each year.
The new project follows the completion of a 1.2 MW rooftop solar installation previously delivered by Greenvolt Next UK at another Marq Logistics site in Milton Keynes.
Speaking at the inauguration event, Alberto Costa highlighted the role of renewable energy investments in supporting both sustainability and economic growth within the logistics sector. He stated that projects such as the Magna Park installation demonstrate how clean energy adoption can strengthen industrial operations while supporting long-term environmental goals.
Owen Power, CEO of Greenvolt Next UK, said rooftop solar is becoming an increasingly important solution for large distribution centres seeking to reduce energy costs, improve resilience, and lower operational emissions. He noted that partnerships with logistics real estate operators such as Marq Logistics are helping accelerate the deployment of decentralised renewable energy infrastructure across the UK and Europe.
Bruce Topley, Managing Director UK at Marq Logistics, said the company remains focused on delivering logistics facilities that improve operational efficiency while helping tenants achieve their sustainability targets. He described rooftop solar as a practical solution for enhancing energy resilience and reducing carbon emissions.
Tony Brito, Cluster Director at Bleckmann, added that integrating rooftop solar at the Magna Park Lutterworth facility aligns with the company’s commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its operations and increasing the use of renewable electricity across its sites.
Beyond the UK, Greenvolt Group and Marq Logistics are also collaborating in Germany on the deployment of 10 rooftop solar PV installations with a combined capacity of 23 MW across multiple logistics assets.
