An important milestone has been achieved in India’s green energy transition with the completion of an e-Reverse Auction (e-RA) for Project-VIII, conducted under the supervision of Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. (SECI). The auction, held for Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited in Mangalore, is part of the SIGHT Scheme, Mode-2A-Tranche-I, which aims to promote large-scale production and supply of green ammonia. The Request for Selection (RfS) for this project was first issued on June 7, 2024, and the auction concluded on August 28, 2025.

The project involves the production and supply of 15,000 metric tons of green ammonia, a crucial input for industries and fertilizers, and an important step toward decarbonizing chemical production in India. The starting price and reserve price for the auction were both set at 60.90 Indian Rupee per kilogram. However, through competitive bidding, SCC Infrastructure Pvt Ltd emerged as the successful bidder by quoting a price of ₹57.65 per kilogram, which was lower than the reserve price. With this bid, the company secured the top rank and was awarded the project.

The e-RA was conducted for a single entity and the results have been declared final. SECI confirmed the completion of the process and issued an official report. The auction was carried out through the e-Secure Auction system, ensuring a secure and transparent mechanism. The snapshot of the auction was recorded at 15:36:31 RTZ on the day of its conclusion.

This development highlights SECI’s role as a Government of India enterprise in driving forward projects under the green hydrogen and ammonia mission. By successfully executing the auction, SECI has enabled competitive price discovery and further strengthened the foundation for India’s renewable energy future through green ammonia production.
