The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) has unveiled a comprehensive policy agenda for President Trump and the 119th Congress, aimed at establishing the United States as the global leader in solar and energy storage. The agenda outlines strategies to enhance energy independence and security, focusing on reducing reliance on China for solar and storage components and expanding domestic manufacturing. Under President Trump’s first term, the U.S. solar industry grew 128%, reaching 100 GW of installed capacity and setting the stage for today’s 220 GW on the grid and over 100 manufacturing plants across 43 states.

Key goals of SEIA’s agenda include boosting American solar manufacturing, meeting the growing energy demands of sectors like data centers and AI, reducing regulatory barriers, supporting energy freedom, protecting private property rights, and creating jobs in America’s heartland. With these measures, SEIA aims to sustain the momentum of the U.S. solar industry’s rapid growth and solidify its position as a top global market.

“Solar is critical to meeting America’s growing need for electricity and providing power for manufacturing, data centers, cryptocurrency, and AI,” said SEIA president and CEO Abigail Ross Hopper. “This is a roadmap for the Trump administration and Congress to capitalize on strong federal solar and storage policies and achieve their vision of a dominant American energy sector. Enacting this agenda will give the United States control of the solar supply chain and ensure American communities benefit from solar and storage jobs and economic growth.”
