The Solar Energy Manufacturers for America (SEMA) Coalition is a group of non-Chinese solar manufacturers working to rebuild the domestic solar supply chain. Its members are involved in manufacturing various solar components in the U.S., including polysilicon, wafers, cells, and modules. The coalition aims to strengthen the American solar industry by reshoring manufacturing and reducing reliance on Chinese-controlled entities. More than 45,000 manufacturing jobs already exist or are planned in the solar supply chain, and SEMA is advocating for policies that will further expand domestic production.

As a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization, SEMA works with policymakers in Congress and the administration to support the interests of domestic solar manufacturers. It also collaborates with non-governmental stakeholders to ensure a competitive and secure solar supply chain.

One of its main priorities for 2025 is reducing the industry’s dependence on Chinese-controlled entities. The coalition urges the government to implement trade and tax policies that counter China’s dominance in the global solar market. Another key focus is reshoring the solar supply chain by promoting tax incentives like the Section 45X Advanced Manufacturing Production Credit and the Domestic Content Bonus to boost U.S. investments. Additionally, SEMA is pushing for fair policies that create jobs, support American workers, and encourage investment in solar manufacturing across the country.
