Shaktishree Air Private Limited (SAPL), a subsidiary of Indian industrial gas manufacturer Shakti Group, has commissioned a 178 tonnes per day (tpd) cryogenic air separation unit (ASU) at its Karjan, Gujarat site, India.
The Karjan plant marks the company’s entry into liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen, and liquid argon production. It is expected to support steel, pharmaceutical, medical, and engineering sectors across India.
Vipul Patel, Managing Director of Shakti Group, said, “This facility enhances our ability to deliver reliable supplies… to industries that form the backbone of India’s industrial and infrastructure growth.”
Shakti Group has a total installed capacity of 448 tpd and distributes nitrogen, oxygen, argon, and carbon dioxide (CO2) supporting nationwide supply chains.
According to gasworld intelligence, India’s nitrogen, oxygen, and argon production increased from a combined 5,000 tpd in 2021 to 7,010 tpd in 2025.
In terms of market demand, gasworld intelligence lists India’s metallurgy, chemical, and general manufacturing industries as key end-user markets for regional nitrogen, oxygen, and argon supply.
