Standards, oxygen limits and grids key to European biomethane growth

Gas standards, oxygen limits and grid masterplans are among the key issues to address if Europe’s biomethane industry is to realise its potential.

The recommendations from 60 experts – encompassing EU policymakers, national regulators, grid operators and industry representatives – were made at the second edition of the in Brussels.

They include a “pragmatic and harmonised approach” to gas quality standards, including oxygen limits, which can make biomethane injection unnecessarily expensive or even technically unfeasible.
