Sungrow FPV Energizes Peru’s First Floating Solar Plant Connected To The Grid Successfully, Marks Major Milestone In Clean Energy

MIGIVA Group, a top agricultural company located in Ica, Peru, with over 30 years of expertise in agriculture and aquaculture, is making strides in sustainable development. As part of Peru’s commitment to renewable energy, the group has launched the country’s first floating solar plant at its Agrícola Andrea farm, combining renewable energy with agriculture in an innovative way.

The floating solar plant, equipped with Sungrow FPV systems and a total capacity of 450 kW, operates entirely on-site, generating more than 780,000 kWh of energy annually. This innovative installation will help the farm save around $140,000 in electricity costs each year and cut CO₂ emissions by over 650 tons annually, making a significant contribution to environmental conservation.

The floating solar system is built on the unused surface of a reservoir at the farm, helping to combat water scarcity in the region by reducing evaporation and preserving water quality. Located in a desert area, this project showcases the benefits of combining floating solar technology with sustainable farming practices. Sungrow FPV, a global leader in floating solar solutions, supplied advanced systems and provided full construction support, ensuring the successful and timely completion of Peru’s first floating solar project.

This project highlights the economic and environmental advantages of using floating solar energy in agriculture, setting a new standard for integrating renewable energy with water resource management in Peru. Sungrow FPV is dedicated to working with global partners to provide tailored floating solar solutions that meet local needs, supporting the global shift toward sustainable energy development.
