The National Energy Services Company (Tarshid) and Qassim University have launched a large-scale solar panel installation project aimed at enhancing energy efficiency across the university’s buildings and facilities. The project, with a power generation capacity of 5,137 kW, is expected to achieve annual energy savings of 8.6 million kWh.

Waled AlGhreri, Board Member and CEO of Tarshid, stated that extensive field surveys and technical studies were conducted to identify energy efficiency opportunities. The initiative focuses on self-consumption of clean energy through rooftop solar panel installations, adhering to global sustainability standards.

The project is expected to reduce the university’s annual electricity consumption from approximately 186 million kWh to 178 million kWh. Additionally, it will save more than 13,000 barrels of oil equivalent per year and prevent nearly 4,000 metric tons of carbon emissions—an environmental impact comparable to planting over 82,000 tree seedlings annually.

This initiative aligns with Tarshid’s mission to support Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 sustainability goals, emphasizing energy conservation and carbon emission reduction.
