Tata Power Renewables Executes 419 MW Projects and 131.2 MWh Storage in Q2 FY27, Up 130% YoY

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, commissioned 419 MW of utility-scale renewable energy projects in the second quarter of FY27, marking year-on-year growth of more than 130% compared with 182 MW executed in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.

The company also executed 131.2 MWh of battery energy storage projects during Q2 FY27. This included 101.2 MWh of storage capacity for TPREL’s own projects and 30 MWh delivered for third-party customers.

During the first half of FY27, TPREL executed a cumulative 645 MW of utility-scale renewable energy projects and 161.2 MWh of battery storage projects. Of the storage capacity delivered during the period, 101.2 MWh was for in-house projects, while 60 MWh was executed for third-party customers.

Key Renewable Energy Projects Commissioned in H1 FY27

TPREL commissioned several major projects during the first half of FY27, including the 100.8 MW Jewali Wind Project, the Kalasar Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project comprising 227.5 MW of solar capacity and a 101.2 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), the 100 MW Kayathar Group Captive Project and the 72.5 MW Tata Steel Captive Project.

The company attributed its execution performance to its focus on quality, safety and operational excellence, supported by supply chain capabilities, experienced project partners and project management systems.

Following these additions, TPREL’s operational utility-scale portfolio reached 7.2 GW, comprising 5.8 GW of solar capacity, 1.3 GW of wind capacity and 281.2 MWh of battery storage capacity.

TPREL Targets More Than 2 GW of Project Execution in H2 FY27

TPREL expects to execute more than 2 GW of renewable energy projects during the second half of FY27. The planned additions include 1,075 MW of solar capacity, 969 MW of wind capacity and 274 MWh of battery energy storage. The company also plans to execute an additional 300 MW of third-party projects during the period.

By the end of FY27, TPREL expects cumulative project execution to reach approximately 9.3 GW, comprising 6,899 MW of solar capacity, 2,298 MW of wind capacity and 555.2 MWh of battery storage.

Company Targets Approximately 12 GW of Operational Capacity in FY28

In FY28, TPREL plans to complete the remaining project portfolio of approximately 2.6 GW. This includes 570 MW of solar capacity, 1,700 MW of wind capacity and 350 MWh of battery storage.

Completion of these projects is expected to take the company’s overall operational capacity to approximately 12 GW, further expanding its renewable energy and storage portfolio.

The planned additions reflect TPREL’s continued expansion across solar, wind and battery storage, supporting India’s clean energy transition and efforts to strengthen energy security through renewable power generation.
