Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission has notified its 2026 demand flexibility and demand-side management regulations, requiring state discoms to adopt structured measures to shift demand, cut peak pressure, and improve efficiency. The framework also introduces escalating flexibility obligations, plus financial incentives and penalties to drive utility participation and faster implementation.

MNRE has launched a dedicated green hydrogen skilling initiative under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, in collaboration with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The programme aims to build a trained workforce of 600,000 by 2030, supporting India’s long-term ambitions in hydrogen production, manufacturing, operations, and clean industrial growth.

The Uttar Pradesh government has approved a 20 MW floating solar project at Chilua Tal in Gorakhpur, adding another avenue for renewable deployment without additional land pressure. Cleared in a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the project reflects the state’s growing interest in diversifying its solar development strategy.

A Central Electricity Authority roadmap projects India will need more than 900 GW of non-fossil power capacity by 2035-36, as peak demand rises to 459 GW. Solar and wind are expected to contribute about 664 GW, making advance transmission planning and grid expansion critical to prevent bottlenecks and support reliable clean energy growth.

ISA and MNRE have announced a joint initiative to host major global clean energy gatherings under a single platform. An EOI issued on March 20 invites event management agencies to support a unified format combining RE-INVEST, the International Conference on Green Hydrogen, and the ISA Assembly under one coordinated global banner.

Coal India has approved a corporate guarantee of up to ₹3,160 crore for its subsidiary’s 875 MW solar PV project in Rajasthan. The support will help CIL Rajasthan Akshay Urja Ltd. secure debt funding, signalling Coal India’s continued strategic shift toward large-scale renewable energy investments beyond its conventional coal business.

BPCL, in partnership with Sembcorp Industries, has secured a green hydrogen supply contract from Numaligarh Refinery in Assam at a record-low discovered price of ₹279 per kg. The award marks a notable milestone for cost competitiveness in India’s hydrogen market and could improve confidence in future industrial-scale green hydrogen procurement.

ACME Solar has commissioned an additional 155 MW/470.25 MWh of battery storage capacity in Rajasthan, taking its total commissioned BESS portfolio to 297.67 MW/951.74 MWh. The company said this forms part of a larger multi-SPV storage pipeline, underlining the increasingly central role of batteries in India’s clean energy build-out.

Tata Power-DDL has earned the highest A+ rating under the Ministry of Power’s Consumer Service Rating of Discoms framework for FY 2024-25 and retained second place in the national distribution utility ranking. The recognition reflects strong performance in reliability, grievance handling, and core consumer service delivery in North Delhi.

Cleantech Solar has signed a second long-term agreement with Coats Group for a rooftop solar project at Coats Rejo Indonesia’s Pasuruan facility in East Java. The company said the combined projects will help substitute 17.3% of the site’s total electricity use with renewable energy, deepening an existing corporate sustainability partnership.

Kalpataru Projects and its subsidiaries have secured about ₹4,439 crore in new transmission and distribution orders across India, Africa, and Sweden. The contracts include a 400 kV transmission line with substations in Africa, multiple transmission line packages in India, and a substation project in Sweden, strengthening the company’s global T&D footprint.

Sterlite Electric has appointed Frederic Andre M. Trefois as Group CEO, marking a key leadership transition as the company enters its next growth phase. A former non-executive independent director on the board, Trefois is expected to lead strategic expansion and sharpen the company’s positioning in transmission and grid infrastructure markets.

WattPower has increased its manufacturing capacity to 11 GW through advanced technology integration, strengthening its ability to serve rising demand for solar infrastructure in India. Since starting operations in Chennai in 2022, the company says it has supplied 24 GW of utility-scale string inverters across large projects and distributed installations.

India’s solar pump market is projected to grow at a 7.03% CAGR between 2026 and 2032, rising from about USD 154 million in 2025 to nearly USD 248 million by 2032, according to MarkNtel Advisors. Government support, rural electrification, and demand for sustainable irrigation are expected to remain key growth drivers.

TERI has unveiled new research and practical tools to accelerate agrivoltaics deployment in India at the World Sustainable Development Summit 2026. By combining solar generation with agricultural land use, agrivoltaics is being positioned as a scalable solution to land-use constraints, rural livelihood support, and clean energy expansion.

GRIHA Council and DTU have announced a partnership focused on advancing sustainability education in the built environment. I could not open the SolarQuarter article successfully, so I’m keeping this summary conservative: the collaboration appears aimed at strengthening academic engagement, skills, and sustainability awareness in architecture, design, and built-environment learning.

Coal India’s board separately disclosed approval of a ₹3,160 crore corporate guarantee in favour of CRAUL for debt funding of the same 875 MW Rajasthan solar project.
