TotalEnergies and STMicroelectronics, a leading semiconductor company, have signed a 15-year agreement to supply renewable electricity to STMicroelectronics’ sites in France. The contract, which began in January 2025, covers a total of 1.5 TWh of power. Under this deal, TotalEnergies will supply green electricity generated from two recently developed wind and solar farms with a combined capacity of 75 MW.

The agreement includes guarantees of origin and structuration services to ensure a steady supply of renewable energy, balancing the intermittent nature of wind and solar power. This is the first time in France that such a long-term renewable energy contract has been implemented. The environmental benefits and positive impact on local communities played a crucial role in finalizing the agreement.

Sophie Chevalier, Senior Vice President Flexible Power & Integration at TotalEnergies, said “We are delighted to sign this agreement with STMicroelectronics, which demonstrates our ability to provide long-term and innovative clean firm power solutions tailored to our customers’ needs. TotalEnergies aims to be a preferred partner to support tech industry players towards their decarbonization efforts, and this agreement showcases our commitment and capabilities.”

Geoff West, EVP and Chief Procurement Officer at STMicroelectronics, mentioned “This first PPA in France marks yet another important step towards ST’s goal of becoming carbon neutral in its operations (Scope 1 and 2 emissions, and partially scope 3) by 2027, including the sourcing of 100% renewable energy by 2027. PPAs will play a major role in our transition, and we have already signed several to support ST’s operations in Italy and Malaysia. Starting in 2025, this PPA with TotalEnergies will provide a significant level of renewable energy for ST’s operations in France, which includes R&D, design, sales and marketing and large-volume chip manufacturing.”

TotalEnergies continues to provide customized energy solutions to meet the unique needs of its global customers. The Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with STMicroelectronics builds on similar agreements with companies like Saint-Gobain, Air Liquide, Amazon, LyondellBasell, Merck, Microsoft, Orange, and Sasol. This deal highlights TotalEnergies’ expertise in developing innovative energy solutions by utilizing its diverse asset portfolio to help customers reduce their carbon footprint.
