Waaree Energies Limited, one of India’s leading solar module manufacturers and a provider of integrated clean energy solutions, has further enhanced its domestic production capabilities by adding 1.5 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity at its Samakhiali plant in Kutch, Gujarat. This expansion follows the recent commissioning of two high-efficiency module lines of 750 MW each at the same facility, bringing the total new capacity added at Samakhiali to 1.5 GW. With this development, the Samakhiali plant now has an annual manufacturing capacity of 3 GW, making it one of Waaree’s most advanced hubs.
The facility features next-generation automation, stringent quality controls, and integrated testing systems to meet the rising domestic and international demand for high-performance solar modules. Sunil Rathi, Executive Director of Waaree Energies Limited, said that the expansion of the Samakhiali facility to 3 GW marks a significant milestone in the company’s strategic capacity growth. He added that the increase in production capability allows Waaree to serve key markets more effectively while advancing its vision of delivering reliable, locally manufactured solar technologies at scale.
Waaree’s expansion strengthens its leadership in the renewable energy sector by supporting both domestic and international manufacturing. The company offers a wide range of clean energy solutions beyond solar modules and cells, including inverters, battery storage systems, green hydrogen solutions, and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services. With the Samakhiali expansion, Waaree’s total global solar module manufacturing capacity now stands at approximately 22.3 GW, including around 19.7 GW in India and 2.6 GW in the United States.
Additionally, the company’s solar cell manufacturing capacity remains at 5.4 GW, representing one of the largest solar cell production platforms in India. These expanded capacities enable Waaree to meet growing global demand for high-efficiency solar modules, support international and national energy transition objectives, and contribute to key initiatives such as Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
