Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGEN), Meralco, and Vietnam-based VinEnergo have signed an agreement to explore a 2.5 GW renewable energy project in the Philippines. The proposed development aims to deliver up to 5 GW of reliable power through renewable generation and supporting infrastructure. The partnership highlights growing regional collaboration in clean energy and supports the Philippines’ goals of strengthening energy security while accelerating renewable energy deployment.

Novva is set to acquire a 120 MWp solar project in the Philippines, further expanding its renewable energy footprint in Southeast Asia. The acquisition reinforces the company’s clean energy growth strategy and contributes additional solar capacity to the country’s energy mix. The move also reflects increasing investor confidence in the Philippine solar market as demand for sustainable and reliable power continues to grow.

TotalEnergies ENEOS has expanded its rooftop solar collaboration with Ceres in Indonesia, increasing renewable energy capacity across the company’s operations. The project will help lower electricity costs and reduce carbon emissions while supporting corporate sustainability goals. The expansion reflects the growing adoption of rooftop solar solutions among commercial and industrial consumers across Indonesia’s rapidly evolving renewable energy landscape.

ACWA Power has signed a 500-hectare lease agreement with BCDA to develop a utility-scale solar and battery energy storage project in New Clark City, Philippines. The project is expected to enhance renewable energy generation and improve grid reliability through integrated storage capacity. It also demonstrates the increasing role of international developers in supporting the country’s clean energy transition.

BKHM BESS has secured key agreements with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) for its planned 100 MW / 400 MWh battery energy storage project in Malaysia. The milestone advances the project toward implementation and supports Malaysia’s efforts to strengthen grid flexibility and renewable energy integration. Large-scale energy storage is becoming increasingly important for maintaining power system reliability as renewable deployment accelerates.

Constant Energy has commissioned a 5.26 MW rooftop solar project for Meyer Industries in Laem Chabang, Thailand. The installation will provide clean electricity for industrial operations while reducing energy costs and carbon emissions. The project highlights continued growth in Thailand’s commercial and industrial solar segment as businesses increasingly adopt renewable energy to meet sustainability objectives.

A new report highlights governance, regulatory, and coordination hurdles slowing progress on the ASEAN Power Grid initiative. While the project remains central to regional energy integration ambitions, stronger policy alignment and institutional cooperation will be necessary to unlock greater cross-border electricity trade and renewable energy sharing. Addressing these challenges will be critical for Southeast Asia’s long-term energy security goals.

Companies and policymakers in the Philippines and Indonesia are advancing electric mobility initiatives through investments and supportive policies. However, charging infrastructure availability and grid readiness remain key concerns. As EV adoption gains momentum, stakeholders are focusing on overcoming these barriers to support sustainable transportation growth and broader decarbonization efforts across both markets.
