Multi Infrastructure & Engineering Pvt. Ltd. (MIEPL) has secured the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) tender to develop a 4.125 MW solar power project at IIT Kharagpur in West Bengal. The tender was released in December 2024, and the company is required to complete the project within 270 days. The project will include a 2,900 kW rooftop system, a 1,000 kW ground-mounted setup, and a 225 kW elevated structure. All solar modules used must be from the government’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers.

MIEPL will install a grid-connected solar system that includes solar arrays, mounting structures, inverters with maximum power point trackers, safety devices, interconnect cables, and switchgear. The system will be installed without battery storage. Additionally, the company will handle the operation and maintenance of the project for 25 years.

The project will be implemented under the RESCO (Renewable Energy Service Company) model, where the developer invests, installs, and operates the system, while the consumer pays for the electricity. This initiative supports India’s renewable energy goals set under the “Panchamrit” commitments made at COP26, aiming to meet 50% of the country’s energy needs through renewables by 2030. Grid connection, net metering, and regulatory compliance will be managed by the developer.
