Saudi Arabia and Syria Sign MoU to Strengthen Energy Cooperation

His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, met today in Riyadh with His Excellency Eng. Mohammed Al Bashir, Minister of Energy of the Syrian Arab Republic, to discuss bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.

The meeting focused on exploring opportunities to enhance collaboration across a range of energy fields, including oil and its supplies, electricity, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. The two ministers also discussed investment prospects and the exchange of technical expertise in developing projects, policy frameworks, and regulatory systems to support the Kingdom’s energy strategy and contribute to Syria’s development efforts.

Following their discussions, both sides signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening energy ties between the two nations. The MoU covers cooperation in oil and gas, petrochemicals, electricity generation, electrical interconnection, and renewable energy.

The agreement marks a step forward in regional energy diplomacy and reinforces the Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to fostering collaboration with neighboring countries in advancing shared development goals.
