Natural gas-based power generation is creating a significant carbon capture opportunity – one that will grow alongside rising electricity demand.
That was the message from Ivor Castelino, Senior Director of Energy Transition Solutions at Bloom Energy, at gasworld’s North American CO2 Summit in Denver.
Castelino highlighted the need for an additional 1,000 TWh of power over the next five years, enough to enable capture of up to 300 million tonnes of CO2 annually.
This surge in electricity demand is largely driven by the rise of AI infrastructure, both current and projected.
